Gaming – from Something to Everything

No person can deny that how much they love gaming. Every person born between the 1980-90s knows what gaming means to them. Sitting with their friends, siblings in front of TV sets or computers with hands on consoles or keyboard was something that anyone won’t ever forget. Everyone back then was so enthusiastic to beat each other’s high score. Gaming parlours were also a hit back then, weekend or leisure time meant to go there with cheerful faces to get the most out of that time – have fun to the fullest; indeed they were the good old days.
I still remember playing Contra, Mario, Dave, and Prince to the extent that I would often miss my meals to play them.Turning point for me was into to Road rash – the first game I ever completed. Very soon there were technological advancements & the overall quality of gaming increased. By the end of the 90s there were some games that attained immense popularity and success, like – Age of Empires, Duke Nukem, Quake 2, Unreal Tournament, Warcraft and many more.

Then as the time went by, more intuitive games came into the market that garnered fame, fans and supporters not only to them but to parent companies as well. Prince of Persia[Ubisoft], Need For Speed[EA Games], Farcry[Ubisoft], Call of Duty[Activision] – to name a few.

Slowly but steadily came Online Gaming into the big picture that introduced multiplayer gaming segment, where multiple different users of a game could compete with each other simultaneously globally.
This trend became such a hit that eSport became a global sensation. Professional competitors either in solo, duo or squad started participating in such events, not only because to earn thousands of dollars as the winning amount but also to showcase their skills and ultimately have fun. The gaming championships are often divided into segments like Racing[NFS, Trackmania], First Person Shooting(FPS)[Counter Strike, Call of Duty, Unreal Tournament], Real Time Strategy(RTS)[Dota 2] and Multi Online Battle Arena(MOBA)[PlayerUnknowns Battleground] with MOBA seeing the highest participation and viewership.

Gaming is not restricted to Computers or PlayStations or Xbox only, since the launch of Smartphone, phone gaming and its counterpart – online phone gaming have also become the new favourite. Any Smartphone owner cannot deny the fact that he/she has never played a game once on it. Games like Boom Beach, Clash of Clans, Fruit Ninja, Angry Birds, Temple Run, Subway Surfers were some of the games that became overnight sensations and everyone was hooked up to their phones to get to the top. More outstanding games like Asphalt 8, Mini Militia, Pokemon Go, PUBG Mobile made it more and more competitive.

Companies, their developers, their marketing agents know that people tend to check their phones more frequently than any other device. So their primary aim is to keep the audience fixated to what new they have to offer. And we as users always comply with them since we are always ready to face new challenges so as to cope with the ongoing trend of online gaming, because for us, when the topic is Gaming, Enough Is Never Enough.
